E-waste has been a subject of concern globally and nationally. In India, the establishment of state of the art recycling facilities for e-waste is still at a nascent stage.
Johnson Controls-Hitachi Air Conditioning India Limited (Formerly known as Hitachi Home & Life Solutions (India) Limited) supports the initiative taken by Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India and believes that manufacturers of goods listed in e-waste category are responsible for facilitating the eco friendly disposal after the end of product's life.
E-waste means waste electrical and electronic equipment, whole or in part or rejects from their manufacturing and repair process, which are intended to be discarded. It includes Central Data Processing units, Personal computers, Printers including cartridges, Copying equipments, Electronic Typewriters, User terminals and systems, Facsimile, Telex, Telephones, Cellular telephones, Television sets, Refrigerators, Washing Machines and Air-conditioners. End of Life Products are products which cannot be put to its original intended utility and is ready to be disposed off.
Air-conditioners and refrigerators shall not be mixed with general household waste at the end of its life and it shall be retired according to the appropriated local or national regulations in an environmentally correct way. Due to refrigerant, oil and other components contained in the Air Conditioner, its dismantling must be done by a professional installer accordingly to the applicable regulations.
